FAQ's
What makes Rough & Rigid firepits different from other fire pits?
All of our fire pits and the material used to make the fire pits is heavy duty, quality steel and comes from right here is the USA. We are a small husband and wife team and we personally make each fire pit upon order. They are built to withstand extreme heat and last a lifetime. Our fire pits have a unique feature that allows you to tilt the fire pit bowl in any direction for directional heat and it also helps with smoke mitigation. Unlike mass produced fire pits ours are handcrafted with precision and designed for durability, function and style.
Are your fire pits smokeless?
While our fire pits are not smokeless and are traditional woodburning fire pits, we have designed ours to tilt to provide directional heat and smoke mitigation.
How does the fire pit tilt?
By placing pressure on the pits, you can tilt it in all four directions, allowing you to build a smaller fire and have the heat directed towards you. This feature also helps to mitigate smoke and wind. Be sure to place the fire pit back in the upright position when using the fire pit lid. The tilting feature is our signature feature that our customers rave about.
Does the bowl need air hole for ventilation?
The contour of the fire pit bowl pulls the oxygen down making it easy to light and maintain a good fire.
Is there a drain hole?
We do not put drain holes in our fire pits. We will however add one if you request one. The hole will leak dirty ash water without lid. Depending how on where the customer is placing their fire pit they may not want the mess under the fire pit when it drains.
How to care for my cooking grill grate?
After each use we recommend cleaning your grill grate with a grill brush and spray with cooking oil. Be sure to store your grill grate indoors out of the elements, such as a garage or a shed.
Why do I need a fire pit lid?
A: The fire pit lid was designed to snuff out the fire. Once you are finished burning, simply place the lid on the fire pit, and within a few minutes, your fire is extinguished. The fire pit lid also helps to keep rainwater out of your fire pit. Wet ash becomes acidic and is hard on metal surfaces. We believe the fire pit lid is the most important accessory to purchase.
Can the fire pit be customized?
Yes! You can add a personal touch to your fire pit by having a custom tag printed with your business logo, family names or special messages. Contact us at 913-626-4597 for details on customizing your fire pit.
Will my fire pit rust?
Since our fire pits are made of high-quality carbon steel natural oxidation will occur, however due to the thickness of the steel, the fire pit will never burn through or rest through making this the last fire pit you will have to buy. We highly recommend seasonally spraying the exterior of the lid, fire pit and base with avacado oil to create a dark rich chocolate rustic patina. Simply spray the exterior and walk away letting it soak into the steel.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards and local checks. Shop Pay is available through our website with different payment options available to help break the payments up over 6 to 12 months.

The truck driver will lower the pallet to the ground, and the homeowner is responsible for placing the fire pit it in their yard.
